HallieHinkhouse event volunteer

Hi @HallieH, welcome and thanks so much for volunteering with HelpBerkeley.org! We would love to work with you. Our dispatchers have made you a event volunteer (evolunteer), and you can now access volunteer areas on the website.

As a event volunteer, you have access to many opportunities! Here are some of them:

  • You can prep and cook food . Specifically the 2021 Holidays, they occur on Sundays, normally between 10:00am and 3:00pm or in shorter shifts, and on Mondays between 9:00am and 1:00pm. We do food prep in a huge hall that used to be a First World War Women’s Auxiliary hall, with about 30 foot ceilings, and enormous fans and vents. Everyone wears masks. We ask that everyone be vaccinated, and we check temperatures on arrival.
  • You can package food , in the same location and conditions, on some Sundays and on Mondays.
  • You can manage driver pickups outdoors on Thu 12/23 between 11:00am and 3:00pm for the 2021 Holidays.
  • You can drive to deliver food to recipients’ homes on Thu 12/23 around the same time.

Hi there!

Quick question - I’d love to have my kids come along & give back to the community as well. I have a 5-year old & 7-year old, would it be okay for them to come along to help with either food packaging or delivery?

I additionally have a <1 year old, who will likely come along for the delivery as well.

I can help with driving to deliver food to recipients’ homes on Thursday 12/23.
I can possibly also help on Sundays for packaging food.

Thank you!
Hallie

Hi @HallieH, that’s great, the kids can absolutely come along! We will add you to the event_driver category so you can have access to those parts of the website and we will be in touch soon to schedule a very brief driver training.

As for the prepping and packaging, that will take place at Bauman College, the parking lot is at 1925/1955 Ninth St. Detailed instructions can be found here: https://go.helpberkeley.org/t/faq-where-to-find-the-kitchen-at-bauman-wellness/7593

We are delighted to have all of you on board!
