HelpBerkeley: COVID-19

River dispatcher

Hi @River , welcome and thanks so much for volunteering with HelpBerkeley.org! We would love to work with you. Our dispatchers have made you a dispatcher, and you can now access dispatcher areas on the website.

As a dispatcher you can pick one (or more) of these four areas:

  • inreach: call our existing members and help them understand how to use our service and our site
  • outreach: call and email other organizations to let people know about us who need us
  • workflow dispatch: prepare delivery runs for our drivers—a complex and technical task
  • customer care: respond to questions from new members on how to register and use the system

What would you like to do? Please let us know by replying to this!

The best way to familiarize yourself with HelpBerkeley.org is to read the New dispatcher welcome (only accessible by dispatchers). Ask if you have any questions!

Thank you for again for volunteering your time with us, we’re glad to have you on board!

Hi @River, thanks for the great discussion yesterday! I will tag you soon in the Outreach area so that we can discuss future plans!

Thanks, Michel!

I really enjoyed talking with you, too! In case you didn’t see my post today, I though you’d want to know that I took your suggestion and spoke with that friend who’s a strict vegan and we came up with a sentence for HelpBerkeley staff to ask to chefs in the program: we suggest that chefs be asked if they can make meals with no animal flesh, fish, fish sauce, seafood, oyster sauce, dairy, eggs, gelatin, or honey. For restaurants that can do this, I recommend that vegan is listed as one of the dietary options for them on the HelpBerkeley restaurant list.

Looking forward to discussing future outreach plans with you, too!

Hi Lianna! I’d like to help with outreach. Instead of calling and emailing other organizations, at least at this time, I’d like to reach out to friends and others in my communities who I think might be interested in participating in and/or volunteering with HelpBerkeley. Do you have a sample email that I can edit and send to these people in my communities?

I worked for years as a legal editor, and I’d like to do light copy editing for HelpBerkeley, too.
