Dear friends and neighbors-
We found out that we are getting a Bay Area Jefferson Award for public service!
Quoting Wikipedia (!): ‘Local winners are ordinary people who do extraordinary things without expectation of recognition. …The Jefferson Awards Foundation is a non-profit organization that “recognizes, inspires and activates volunteerism and public service in communities, workplaces and schools across America.” The Institute was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard.’
We are very proud to receive this award, which we accept for the organization as a whole, because it highlights the 350+ volunteers that are HelpBerkeley.org. We are a 100% volunteer organization, as grassroots as you can be: we are so pleased to work together in our community to help our neighbors!
